halter neck.. what decade?

I know this is probably the wrong place to post, but I was wondering if anybody knew when the halter-neck was er.. invented?? only I'm doing a project on the 20's fashion but there's no point putting it in there if it wasn't around then..?! I've tried searching but can't find anything, any help = much appreciated! thanx Lou xx
