22 Yes, ' being reset' is the anagram indicator, I think.

PS This week's EV was great fun - and no missing, extra letters in sight to scare you off!

22 brass = cash

Thanks, all! And a parsing for 25? Thanks, NACW, I'll be having a go at this weeks EV, it could be another eye opener for me!

The only thought I have is,

In chess, a pin is a tactic in which a defending piece cannot move out of an attacking piece's line of attack without exposing a more valuable defending piece. Moving the attacking piece to effect the pin is called pinning; the defending piece restricted by the pin is described as pinned.

I am still thinking of the rest of the parse

Many thanks, donny48!

I believe the parsing is as follows:

"pin" is a clinch, so to "free clinch" is to unpin

"unpin" without the P (penny dodged) is "unin"

"unin" is nearly "union"

Union is rather blue, or a navy blue

Unpin - '(p)un' (clinch, 'P[enny]' dodged) + 'pin(k)' (nearly "rather blue")

Chambers -

clinch...a pun; a punning retort
pink...slightly pornographic, somewhat blue (film, etc)

Thanks for the very comprehensive parsing, Lie-in King and writesbad!
