Simple enough to find out what the religious restrictions are before agreeing a church, and ensuring your photographer knows and accepts them. Ultimately it's the unfortunate couple that's paying for the services they want.

Be fair, people.  You don't have to get married in  church.  If you do then you should understand that the vicar is the person i/c and it's his/her church and there are rules.

It's more than just a picturesque setting. I can offer a lovely 11thC church if anyone is interested?

Not even in a church for them, then. The priest should know what this is about the couple and learn tolerance. To threaten to end the ceremony is well out of order, and his position should be seriously considered by his church authorities.

Given that the ceremony is in the open air, the minister has no right to behave with such crass insensitivity.

Yes the clicks are annoying, but the day is about the bride and groom, and they want photos to remember it by, for themselves, and their children and grandchildren.

Now, with digital photography, cameras don;t click anymore, although, bizarrely, you get them with 'click' sound built in for that nostangia feeling.

I think any minister should be aware that it is an impotant event, but a little courtesy never hurts on the day.

The way around it is to discuss with your minister in advance if he or she has any objections to photographers, and if so, what and where, then everyone knows where they stand - literally.

The minister was objecting to what he perceived to be the intrusive prescence and camera clicking from the wedding photography team.

How is that connected to your observation?

I've been to a wedding where the vicar berated the congregation before starting the ceremony. It was weird to say the least.

My theory is that some of them are bitter about the fact the usual congregation is two old ladies and a dog, but everyone turns up for a wedding.
