..........aged 85. He of Bullseye and darts commentary. I used to work with Tony back in the 70's in a Spar warehouse in Middleton, North Manchester. This was before he moved into sports promotion, specifically in darts. He was a good all round sportsman but he was without doubt a top dart thrower. He was as good as any of those top players at the time but he said he could make more money in promotions. Before he left Spar, he used to go into Manchester every Saturday and play for £100 a game on a log-ender, a small dart board with no trebles and very narrow doubles. When he was commentating with Sid Waddell, pre computers, he would be telling Sid what the out shot was. He was very quick at that, as top players usually are. I was saddened to hear of his passing. I have some nice memories of him. He also had a great sense of humour. RIP Tony Green.
