And perhaps the BBC will enlarge on what a 'hotspot area' is?

Another race-related article? :p

most likely

At the end of that article, Alison Lowe said:

"If you've experienced this type of behaviour please report it. You will be believed and support is available."

So what happened to the basic system of ABC by the police?

Accept nothing.

Believe no-one.

Check everything.

What happened to that? It seems to have been replaced by

Accept everything.

Believe everyone.

Check, maybe later.

Don't the police risk breaking Sharia law?  This latest initiative could be highly offensive to extremists.

....take your pardners for the usual dance.💃🕺

It's one of those perilous issues, an incident which may happen or not depending on an individual's definition of "catcalling", and how well defined or wide their definition is.

Surely one has to call, "Here, pussy pussy pussy", in order to call one's cat in.

Absolutely ridiculous.  Why can't the BBC just spell out why Bradford is a "hotspot area" for abuse of women?  It seems that some areas really are "no-go" for women in our cities now.

Bradford has been 'no-go' on your own for ages. I remember when I had to take the decision that I could not go out to meet-up with a (female) friend at the theatre in the evening because it meant us both parking some distance from the theatre and walking to meet there.  Matinees only after that  and at the weekend because of working.

A few weeks ago my niece was riding a horse on the moor near Bradford.  Young men drove along the nearby road flashing their lights, sounding horns and yelling and laughing as the horse panicked and almost bolted with her on board.  Just reporting a bit of reality.

that horse thing is not limited to bradford

I got lost one day in the Bradford area in about 1998.  I was on my own and terrified.  Never felt unwelcome anywhere in my life until then.

Probably not, bednobs, but it's notable for the consistency of the type of young men who offend that way and who are not local but have come out from the city. Nothing wrong with coming to a well-known local beauty/recreation spot and having an ice-cream, a walk etc. like others...........but they are out to create trouble and are having an effect in driving the locals away at popular times.

Ladybirder, I understand.

why are more than a quarter of ambulance staff being sexually harassed? That's not just Bradford, that's the whole country.

Because that's modern Britain, that's why.

Being untouchable lends itself to a feeling of invincibility.

If we don’t put a stop to this sort of intimidation, then the harassment, and the bullying will continue. This town ain’t big enough for the two of us etc. Cravenly cowering causes capitulation of cowards.

only been to Bradford once, it was closed!! just kidding!🤣 Seriously in 1988 i drove there to watch a football game, with a mate. Went for a pint, saw a queue outside one boozer, on closer inspection the attraction was a stripper, this was about 1.30pm. Sorry to disapppoint you, but we chose another pub instead, similar to that pub in the tv sitcom Early doors!

the article makes the answer to your question quite clear - it's because MEN are harrassing WOMEN out running, and the police are having a crackdown.  Im not the bbc, but i imagine that "hotspots" refer to areas where it happens most often
