Does Vlad Have A Point?
In no way am I supporting this tyran before the usual start but in saying "There is no democracy in the West" does he have a point.
For the UK out PM was not elected(not even by his own Party it was a coup)
We have just crowned a new Head of State (by birthright - no election there)
The HoC is unelected (So zero democracy there)
The Civil Service just does what it wants and certainly doesnt serve the people who pay its wages (Unles you are part of the MetroLiberal elite)
So does he have some sort of a point?

I agree untitled - but not sure about handing control of our representative institutions to an extremely wide band of people with an extremely wide set of ideas. (I know you didn't actually say that!)
No nation has true democracy as the resources aren't there to provide it. Maybe once the tech has evolved sufficiently.
However many nations try to approximate it, or give the impression they do, and they tend to be mostly found in the west, or elsewhere when similar values are held.
Putin can only demonstrate that a tyrany spreading fear and violence leads to a high control of the people, as they have little option while folk continue to join the government's oppressive forces in order to do the leader's bidding.
So, in short, no he has no point. And listing weaknesses in one's own flawed version of democracy doesn't change that. When he introduces a better version in his country then he can comment on others with authority, but until then he should avoid referring to the mote in someone else's eye, and consider the beam in his own.
