Would You Say Something? Should I?

My lovely neighbour moved out 2 weeks ago. He arranged that the purchasers give me any post that might still come. They've not moved in, but have been here most days doing some work on the flat.

This evening, I went out to check my gas meter...there was a flat parcel leaning against the wall. I've been in all day...no knock on the door. What if I was in all day tomorrow and never saw it? What if we'd had more torrential rain?

I'm finding this annoying and am considering asking them to make sure they hand things like this to me...rather than leave out in the open.

Yes, I'd say something - don't know how accessible your house is but someone could steal the parcel.

I'm in a block of maisonettes, so there's a walkway in front of our entrances.

Yes, I'd explain and ask them to pass things over, they may have forgotten the seller's request.  It's a straightforward thing for them to do.

They didn't forget...they just left it outside my door. If they did knock, and got no response...common sense would be to hold on to it until they could give it to me personally.

Or tell your ex neighbour things are not going to plan and to get his/ her mail to  redirected another way. Didn't  the Post office have a method of redirecting post to a new address?

Rosetta...he's between properties and this was meant to be for just a month or so. 

Will definitely speak to them...though I heard the woman might be a bit...excitable. 

Neighbour only had 24hr notice that sale had gone through...had to vacate 1pm next day. A difficult task. Still moving things out and buyer appeared and started having a go at him and mates who were helping. So I'm wary...haha

You can only do your best in these circumstances. The new neighbours have a lot to deal with themselves moving into a new home and work and kids or whatever goes on in their lives. 

Help where you can but don't let it destroy your relationship with them  before it has begun.

Pasta/  Why don't you wait till your ex-neighbour comes to collect any mail you have for him, explain the situation to him and maybe he could talk again to the new occupants or leave a note for them thus not involving you?

Maydup...they are an older couple. They've not as yet moved in, so may have bought the property to rent out. I'd still not expect them to be leaving parcels out. 

Haz...actually that's a good idea. I have to let my ex neighbour know that there's something for him to collect so will mention it to him.
