my  tv  is  on  a  5 year guarantee   some  of  the  buttons  on  the  hand  set   not  working   am  i  entitled  to  a  replacement   thanks

probably not, they're really separate items even if they're included in a package (have a look at what the guarantee says). New batteries might help but if some buttons work and some don't you might need a new handset. They're not hugely expensive

It dependson the make if it is a manufacture's guarantee, some do include the remote or the terms and conditions of the retailer or other providers guarantee

I have had this happen and took it apart.  They usually come apart with a bit of messing around with them.  Often a screw under the batteries then prise it open on the end or side.  Often it has been dust inside and a quick clean has made it work fine again.  Failing that you could buy can of compressed air and blow that through it.  Worth trying before going and buying new one.
