This is a case where war as in resistance is preferable to the alternative. It's the last thing Putin wants. He wants Ukraine to surrender ultimately as it's his only hope of victory. Hence the terrorist bombing campaign to try to break the spirit of the people.
Likewise, why is strengthening NATO something you apparently deprecate? When the threat increases you double down on your defence. It's exactly the right thing to do
I am not "deprecating" NATO lol. correct me if i am wrong but your argument appears to be that ukraine won't be allowed to lose because the USA has "woken up" to the implications of russia losing.
my response is that the USA is not necessarily a friend of ukraine because it happens to be an enemy of russia. the goal of the USA is to bleed Russia white and strengthen NATO. that doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to bring about a ukranian victory. why? because a long bloody war or an even longer and costlier occupation of that country by russia will both do very nicely indeed for their objectives. i think this explains the USA's behaviour much better.
They are losing the war because they are not getting the support from the west that they need.
By far the most amount of aid they've had so far has come from America, but the Republican dominated Congress is doing its best to block anything further. Maga and Trump are pro Putin.
Don't take my word for it. Do a bit of googling.
