Snooker .. Remember The Montage?

Why did they stop doing the montage? These are the things they used to fill the interval with in the final etc, I remember this from the 80s to Bucks Fizz.... Some great characters in those days....

that year, the final (between Alex Higgins and Cliff Thorburn) was famously interrupted by the climax of the Iranian Embassy siege. Thorburn won, and in the post match interviews, Higgins described Thorburn as "a grinder", thus bestowing Cliff's forever nickname. a radio joke at the time was "who smokes more embassies - Alex Higgins or the SAS?"

mush, you are right about the seige and Higgins v Thorburn but that was 1980. Making your mind up won the 1981 Eurovision so I think this montage was from later. Probably 1982.

i quite liked a later montage that repeatedly showed Bill Werbeniuk leaving the arena.....
