//Greta Thunberg accuses Israel of ‘artwashing’ reputation through Eurovision//

Not content with driving her own bandwagon, she's now jumped on another.   Is 'artwashing' some form of Newspeak?  I've never heard of it.

No I think it is a 'portmanteau word artwash- half of one and half of the other and meaning both

art is difficult to  split I agree

Like Tigon or Lyger - large cat crosses.

OR

artwash, -wash as a syllable ( morpheme, grapheme) can be tacked onto anything to give it the 'wash' meaning. whitewash, pugwawsh

The Sacklers art-washed - see Dopefiend playing now on BBC. Marketed vicodin like it was dolly mixture - paid out $62bn on that one.

the objaaaaayze we found in Egypt were exhibited in a Sackler Gallery in the Brit Museum. Always made me gasp a bit.

-gate is the obvious strongly bound morpheme, watergate, borisgate, NHS-gate. ( note strongly bound means the opposite in science and biochemisty)

Peter - Do you ever read back your posts before you submit them?

Does it ever occur to you that they are incomprehnsible nonsense?

er - I have time

(a)art washing - scrubbing clean a soiled reputation by buying or donating art. There is an art-cleaned gallery in the british museum called the Sackler Gallery

(b)The Sacklers got their money for fraudulently selling vicodin. They have recently paid $62bn compensation

(C)artwashing in Malmo is trying to give a country a cuddly warm persona when it is starving a million people somewhere else. Not warm and cuddly. Andy do you ever read the news about a place called Gaza ( probably not).

portmanteau word has an entry in wiki - it is as I said. I will leave you to look it up - some mods are better at internet searches than other.

https://www.jstor.org/stable/299064 - - -  objects from this site 1972-1980 are now exhibited in a gallery in the british museum ( a famous museum in London) called the Sackler Gallery - ( artwashed see above) (a)

Andy when you mod, do you ever turn your brayne on|? - on the facts it seems no

Oh, and you can watch 8 hr on the sacklers and  their illicit Vicodin profits on the Beeb, called 'DopeSick' Stars Michael Keaton. Lots and lots of scenes filmed in galleries they endowed. I know because I go to museums a lot, and know about Egyptian archeology.

( thousands of ABers scream: we dont, we like ABBA and Malmo and boogie-woogie and dont go near a museum !)

No further questions M'Lud.
