This has been ongoing for weeks and now starts to look very much like Ukraine 2014.

Some things a nation has to sort out for themselves. We in the UK also have problems finding a barely adequate, or better, government to vote in, too.

The problem is Georgian politicians are very biddable. Georgian Dream are plainly in the pay of the Russian-leaning oligarch (can't be bothered looking up his name) and one consequence of this new law would be no independent foreign monitoring of the next elections.

And I think most reasonable goverments would balk at passing such an unpopular law, opposed by pretty much 90% of the electorate.
