Flicking through FB the other evening I saw a photo of a weapon from WW1.  It was like a large dart designed to be dropped from an aeroplane.  You'd guess it would be more miss than hit, but if it did manage to hit someone could it have proved fatal?

Terminal velocity depends on the shape of the falling body but, from memory, is about 120mph for a person. A dart-shaped object falling from an aeroplane could certainly kill someone.

still using flechettes in Ukraine, I see.

oh my god, really?

ok all I'm saying that take away the atmosphere .

mass is relevant - it is the em 'm' in F  = ma for chrissakes. (*)

and no I dont want to take away the atmosphere - I might suffocate !

y9u cant get rid  of  em (m) because you have assumed that the kv2 term does NOT contain (m) - so you can never get it  to cancel = it will always be there

Punters have realised that the flechette is designed to travel very fast? It you wanted it to fall slower - you would put fins on, spinny thing, or a parachute ( parachute mine)

Does it matter if the Hoover isn't plugged in?

no  - the hoover will go no matter where the plug is - try it!

I just might, Peter, I'm a sucker for an experiment.
