Collecting Medication At The Pharmacy

Have you ever been embarrassed when collecting your medication, with the pharmacist openly discussing your private medical condition, within earshot of others?

Can you identify your own predicament in this video?

No: but once I was verbally attacked by some rude, utter rear end for because I was at the counter getting my prescription filled while he and one of the pharmacists started to chat about his issues. a) it was their responsibility to go somewhere private and b) not being nosey I was unaware of what they were discussing anyway. Since that day I've regretted just looking at him gobsmacked rather than giving the utter ^$%& a piece of my mind at the top of my voice. Well if it ever happens again...

The pharmacy I am registered has a small consultation room next to the counter if medication has to be discussed. I was asked to enter it once because the pharmacist required some feed back on the medication I had been prescribed previously and its efficacy. I duly obliged. A satisfactory arrangement.

Retrocop It tells you on your prescription when your medication is due to be reviewed, but most pharmacists seem too busy to do that these days.
It's been years since I was invited into the little room to discuss my medication.
I suppose if I needed to talk to them then would would probably oblige.

Yes, but many pharmacies act as a fail safe. Far better to be safe than sorry where drugs are concerned. And they are the ones dispensing them.

Ours uses the 'little room' for vaccines too. Quick and efficient.

Have never ever had my medication reviewed by a Gp.

If you are on long term meds it is most often done in the GP surgery by a prescribing nurse.

Practices vary who does what. I know my prescription has a rubber stamp with a review date but it has only happened once. As I get my repeats via Patient Access I don't take the repeat counterfoil on the script. As long as the Doctor approves my electronic request the Pharmacist takes it from there. One locum pharmacist was horrified that a hospital had discharged me with a cocktail of medication which could have resulted in serious consequences when taken with my usual medication. I was ushered into the consultation room and questioned as to who prescribed what and when. At least she was on the ball. My GP wasn't.
