So expect gazzillions to be pumped into green "initiatives" for no benefit whilst other calls on the public purse go begging. I'd hoped that labour would not continue our (the tories) folly. Why do politicians of all sides ignore the simplest of arithmetic? Nothing we do makes any difference. Only the big emitters can do that.
I can't understand the frantic rush.
If we reached 'Net Zero. tomorrow, it wouldn't make an ounce of difference.
And the idea that anyone anywhere would 'follow our example' is laughable.
By all means try and put right the problems of polution, but not in a way that takes money out of the pockets of people now.
Hopkirk, we should not be in the position of promising nonsense we cannot possibly deliver, based on the suffering of strangers.
We are not a major player on the world stage anymore, our politicians like to pretend we still are because, by definition, they are egotistical who like playing 'statesman' as am ego-massaging game.

As I have said before, any policy on ridding us of oil used as fuel (which I have no problem with) has to be one where we can take all along. i.e. the poor should not be left behind(which they are currently and will be even more with SKS's policy)
It needs to be over 50-75 years, with goals along the way.
Net Zero of course is rubbish, and,IMHO, should be based on pollution which is tangible and there can be no argument about.
