Having had to have an ear irrigation and then a referral to have a Specsavers hearing test, which was done this afternoon, I now have an appointment for next Friday to be measured/fitted with two hearing aids.

The family better watch out as I'll soon be able to hear what they're saying about me 😉

Can you give a ballpark figure for the package please, Vagus?

I CAN HEAR YOU Duggie 😁

No cost at all, all on the NHS.

Thanks, Vagus, I'll be knocking on the quack's door on my return from Lanzarote in a couple of weeks. 👍

Where I live, if you want a hearing test and then, probably, a hearing aid, you have to have an ear irrigation which is done at a sister surgery, and then get in touch with your own surgery again, tell them you've had an ear irrigation and ask for a referral for a hearing test.

You then wait for someone to get in touch and make an appointment, again, at a sister surgery, for the hearing test. It was done by an audiologist from Specsavers but is all on the NHS.

I could have gone direct to Specsavers for a hearing test but would have had to buy a private, and costly, hearing aid.

It was a bit long winded but worth it.

And enjoy Lanzarote Duggie 👙🌞

Och aye, cheers! 😎

I keep meaning to get mine checked. (But I guess I'd look silly with black & white ears.)

Handy for an impromtu game of chess or draughts though.

Oops, I'll have a P please Bob.

I just booked direct with Specsavers. Ear irrigation was never mentioned. All free. Very straightforward.

I, too, booked with Specsavers but just be careful, not all branches do NHS hearing aids. All do free hearing tests and will supply a hearing aid but our local branch only did private aids; I had to go to a different branch for an NHS aid.

Yes, I could have booked direct with Specsavers but they wouldn't then supply me with NHS hearing aids. The only way to get NHS ones round here is to go down the route I did.

We're lucky, we have 3 Specsavers within easy travelling distance. Unfortunately the very nearest, where we have our eyes done, doesn't do NHS hearing but at least one of the others does, so I went there.
