It doesn't fit  D?R?T?G?S but I think its the correct answer.

The wording of the clue seems strange to me: 'tribe of what Dorsey and parts of Wiltshire...' doesn't  sound right.

Dorset not Dorsey

yup - as a Dorzetter ( aaaargh!) it is Durotriges, and gave its name to Darchesterrrrr ( aaargh!).

According to Mortimer Wheeler , the taking of Maiden Castle by Vespasian is described in a latin text
