Beeb coverage very different to previous years - fluffies showing respect for their elders sacrifices

Nice post clarion.

The services over the last two days have been very well performed with the exception of some of the singers who sound like BGT rejects

I have to leave the room occasionally as emotion overwhelms me during the bbc coverage, all those old men..

We were in France twenty years ago for the 60th anniversary, we walked on the beaches, talked to a lovely old Canadian veteran, spoke to numerous French people. We certainly remembered them then, and continue to do so.

Don't forget All the Allies who came to help Britain.       A Britain that could not have defeated Hitler without them.

A very good coverage by the BBC today.

As the number of veterans reduces every year I find the most poignant of words at any such remembrance come from the pen of John Maxwell Edmonds:
"When you go home
Tell them of us and say
For your tomorrow
We gave our today".

10.54  Gulliver,on every bit of the coverage I've watched all of the allies have been mentioned many times.

I'm watching the commemoration in Normandy today.  I defy anyone watching not to weep a little weep.  😢

I thought the ITV coverage was much better than the BBC's. More human.  We had a little 2 min silence in Bushy Park this morning.  My Mum remembered when Camp Griffiss was there

I cried - and then cried some more.  I thought the King did rather well.  With the last fly-past, his face broke into a smile of pride plus sorrow; rather lovely.

choux 15.16  That is the Kohima epitaph in case you forget it and want to look it up. :)
