My daughter and grand daughter have been living in a rented house, and they have just been told that the landlord wants to sell the rented property they are living in. What rights do my daughter and grand daughter have

I am no expert but if they have rented a long time they may have rights to stay. Unless the landlord is moving in to live they may have difficulty with a no fault eviction. But someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

Not a lot I suspect. A friend recently had to sell her rented house. The tenant had to vacate & was offered alternative accommodation by the local council once it became clear she was homeless.

The tenant CAN refuse to allow viewings by estate agents & potential buyers unless there is a clause in the tenancy agreement enforcing this. It may delay the sale but not prevent it.
