And when the hip joint is painful the outside of the ankle is sore, too.  I guess it's because I'm trying to adjust my gait and using a walking stick.

Isn't decrepitude a dreadful thing?

Shoes are extremely important Sandy, if your feet are not properly supported it can effect your stance and cause problems not only your feet but your back even.

Recently I've been wearing ordinary shoes and they could be part of the problem.  Prior to that I wore Lowa trail shoes and never had any problems.  Maybe it's time to get another pair of them.

I've just sent a shoe off via the orthotics dept. to have it altered in the hope that I will be able to walk without a stick.  Fingers firmly crossed. NHS will cover 3 pairs 1st year and then 2 pairs every year after that.  It's a start.
