Use the wrong pronoun?....in the Slammer! Tie up a lad hold a weapon to his throat and force him to apologise for being gay, that's just fine and dandy!

where does it say about people being put in prison for using wrong pronouns?

Question Author

The act says up to 7 years in prison.

You know very well what TTT means Bednobs.

TTT, unfortunately Law and Order has gone out of the window, expect to see more problems - just like the liberal States in the US have been experiencing.

i really don't YMB, i have not been aware of this bill (well only in the most superficial sense) and i thought from the post someone had been jailed for using the wrong pronoun (which would be ridiculous)

In fairness a reasonable person needs to see that as stirring up hatred, and no reasonable person could.

REally Bednobs.  Hmmm

OG, can you explain?

yes, really ymb!

Question Author

09:25 the hate crime bill of scotland reported by the BBC in the link at 09:24 includes things like using the wrong pronouns and the maximum penalty is 7 years in prison. That is not to say that every use will result in jail but the possibility is there.

one would presume the possibility was also there for this crime too, but wasnt used because it wasnt reasonable

Question Author

I think this is an actual hate crime and a pretty nasty one. How bad does it have to be before prison is the sentence?

7 years in prison for teenagers is over the top IMO for this.

I completely agree with the parents (as much as i can without having seen any of the evidence etc) that on the face of it this seems ridiculously low level of "punishment" tho

Question Author

7 years may be over the top but some sort of custodial sentence would be in order.

The explanation is that, considering using a wrong pronounce is stirring up hatred, is clearly unreasonable.

If it was otherwise all the woke folk will have been banged up in clink for the next seven years by now.

...pronoun... !!!!!!!!!
