Laptop Screen Gap

When using my Laptop sometimes it is not the Full Size screen that appears...i.e there is a Gap of 1" at one side.

This means I cannot use the Minimum or Maximum function.

A 2 headed arrow appears on the screen and I try to drag the page to get it centred but it is fiddly and time wasting to do.

Any tips would be really appreciated...thanks

Right click on the desktop got to  display settings and see if the resolution needs changing

Pressing the Windows key and the 'Up' arrow together should maximise the active window.
