Facebook - How To Stop These

I keep getting notifications from different sites. They are sites I've never visited and not interested in. Why is this happening and how can I stop this happening?

If you are on a phone or tablet and using the FB app, then it's quite tricky to stop spurious notifications and adverts.

If you are on a PC or Mac then you need to install an extension to your browser called F.B. Purity - it makes FB usable again and is one of the best free bits of software I've ever installed :

Thank you sunny-dave. I use an Apple iPhone and an Apple iPad so it looks as though I'm stuck with them. It's strange why they have only started to appear recently though. I'll just ignore them for now I think.
