I stored some items in plastic carriers in the loft a few years ago.  When I went up to retrieve them the bags had completely degraded to tiny pieces of fluff.

My brother bought two pairs of slippers in a sale and put one pair away in the wardrobe.  The soles were just a pile of 'ash' in the bottom of the shoe box when he next opened it.  The ones he had been wearing just had normal wear.
