I trapped my finger in a steel door and split one nail right the way down. OMG was it painful! I struggled for YEARS, trying to sort it myself. Plasters, superglue, steri-strips, creams etc, then swallowed my pride and went to a nail bar. I've just got a strip of fabric sticky tape holding mine together.
I've recommended this to a number of people, including on here.
I've used it for years...it healed a stubborn long term split I had in a thumbnail. Definitely worth a try.

I have the same on thumb nail. I have to make sure I keep the nail short. If not, I catch it on something and is very painful. I've been tempted to put a tiny bit of super glue on it. Knowing me, I would probably stick nail to skin! :-)

Omg! How embarrassing!
I've no worry of that anyway... :-))
Pay a visit to a local nail bar. They should be able to cover it with the resin (?) stuff they use until it grows out.
I got it at Chemo ( not that is not a spa) and asked some of the ladies also on chemo

they basically said you were stuck with it,

BUT - steri strip - goes soggy if you do washing up
and I wondered about superglue

someone has managed to superglue contact lenses

With plasters and things, you can't put your hands in water and with the resin you can!

I usually glue a false nail over the damaged one until it grows out.

Ok a small piece of clean unused tea bag, put some superglue over the split, then stick on the piece of teabag, (don't glue your fingers together, I use a toothpick), let it dry, file it smooth and varnish over.  Might need repeating if you get it wet but should last a few days....

Works on splits down sides of nails as well...
