Hi, just come down with Covid and one hell of a rotten cough. On NHS site it says people with an auto immune disease listed  can obtain test kits for free. However I can't find any list. Help appreciated.

Thx

Tony

I still don't understand why people feel they need to test for covid these days. I guess you've done a test already but you know you feel rough and have a rotten cough. If the test were negative how would your behaviours change?

An object lesson in how easily and quickly people can become conditioned, Prudie.

If you have an autoimmune disease and test positive for COVID you are eligible for treatment because you are at risk of becoming seriously ill.

Nothing to do with being conditioned and everything to do with looking after yourself

Not covid but I've had a couple of episodes in the last few years when my breathing was severely affected. Worst thing in the world. Get whatever treatment you can.

If you've got it, you should try to avoid passing it on.

What is this treatment Barry? And if you are vulnerable, feel like death but if it's flu or one of the many other respiratory viruses but not specifically covid you are telling us we can't get treatment????

COVID is not flu and the treatmentd will not work for flu

As usual ignoring the logic and not absorbing what I wrote in order to be correct. I am well aware flu and coving treatment is not the same ut what you seem to miss is vulnerable people can get help and treatment for ALL these respiratory conditions.

You implied one has to do a test to prove you have covid before NHS will help, if it's flu then jog on?

Douglas is right, every response on here is conditioned. One feels ill with lots of things and one should avoid passing it on, that goes for colds, flu, noro, shingles, endless list as well as everyone's dreaded coving.

Before anyone comments I'm using a tablet that insists on changing covid to coving if I don't check.

If only it could in real life.

I didn't imply that at all, Prudie.  I simply answered the question about why an auto immune person should test for Covid and answered the question about treatment available for Covid.

Have you ever considered volunteering at Citizen's Advice or a similar organisation, barry?

I did for years, douglas.

If you already have covid, then there is no point in further testing. Even after you have beaten it, tests may show positive for up to ninety days.

Yes there is, the treatment is effective if taken within five days.  COVID can be terrible for people with a weakened immune system

Was this effective treatment discovered after the pandemic? That is a genuine question as I've not heard of it and presumably had it been available in 2020 and 2021 hardly anyone would have died or been on full pay but staying at home for over 6 months if they were vulnerable (as many of my colleagues were).

yes they do and not they wont

Free well pharma, Manchester - "foo we sell dem!"

are they free? No she said "a tenner for five !"

God I wish the mods wd monitor the rubbish instead of retaining the snake oil ads and ditching the good stuff

If you already have covid, then there is no point in further testing. Even after you have beaten it,

yes there is actually: and facilities may wish to have two negative tests so there IS a point of testing  post covid, hem hem. Persistence DOES occur - including persisting tests without infectivity BUT that is NOT a reason to stop testing

Having failed CAR-T ( the fabulously expensive infustion at £300 000 - one shot only) I am now left severly immuno-suppressed ( I know the mods here HATE witness history) - and yes I have just called at the local famous cancer hospital, with er covid. No one died. Just about the whole hospital sounded as tho they were already  infected when I waltzed in.

and I was NOT offered any anti covid drug and am still alive. so unexpected it took them four days to do the dip test thingey

Manchester / London there is a common but mild variant ( as one wd expect from Darwin principles) - low temp in the evgs ( 37 - 37.5'C only) - plus snot, cough, spit etc - oh and covid fog ( ugh) and changed taste. I solation and face masks now optional

well this post is top gen, so THAT wont last !

Good Luck with the covid tests: you  're gonna have to pay
