Anyway i´ve decided to bite the bullet and pay!

I was asked how do i want to pay? debit card or bank transfer? debit card is free, but according to my Halifax bank website bank transfers are free in euros, but £9.50 in pounds? no brainer or not really?

WhatsApp payments appear to be available in India, Brazil and Singapore for businesses. You need to get copies of the Council Tax Bills from the Council. Daughters letting agent had them, and then pay the council. You could contact the local court for Bailiff order

Talk to CAB.  Can't do any harm and might just help.  Good Luck.

Is the flat still sited with the letting agency

If the council tax is for the period the flat is empty then it's 100% your liability. DO NOT pay anything through WhatsApp! Call the local council and go online to pay any arrears, or if they have put it in the hands of a debt collection agency or bailiff then contact them directly to either pay over the phone or by bank transfer.

Piggy, can you confirm that there were tenants living in the property at the time the council tax was not paid?  Your previous thread leads me to believe that is the case.

Can you confirm that you initiated the contact with the bailiffs by Whatsapp?

Also confirm that you have spoken to the council directly who have confirmed that the council tax was unpaid whilst your tenant lived there.  That you contacted them using the phone number or email address on their legitimate website.

Have you seen this? https://www.gov.uk/guidance/guidance-on-hmcts-related-suspicious-phone-calls-emails-and-text-messages

"HMCTS will never use ‘WhatsApp’ to contact users."

Okee dokee, just don't pay it yet

I think  - - - you should contact the council.....

and ask what is going on - I think they may have inflated the bill - and you can start off with - -  since you OBVIOUSLY know my address why havent you contacted me?

this sounds like a cash cow for the bailiffs, ( you may use my fine phrases without charge) - and you wish to pay a debt you havent been informed about with out extras...

for a CCJ on a naughty naughty tenant -  £600 became £2500 without much effort ( two visits) - er I didnt get the £2500 by the way
