Have You Got A Budgie Or Canary?
At one time it seemed every other house had a small bird in a cage. I used to keep budgies and cockatiels but the asthma put paid to that.
I don't know anyone that has a budgie or canary now. My mother got great comfort from her feathered companions.

It was just as lockdown started, heard a strange chirping on my balcony, opened the door and in flew this orange thing. Flew directly to a picture I had bought for Redman , pooped on it and just looked at me.... I couldn't let it out again as it would be killed by the first predator to spot it. Improvised a cage in the top of a bookcase with chicken wire and cable clips, bought some seed and put up posters asking if anyone had lost one.
Identified it as a red factor type ... No one claimed it.... My mother decided he needed a new cage... He is still here. Now called Shankley.
He has a very varied diet( currently into strawberries) a variety of perches, and a mirror... Every year he learns a new song, and trust me it's not a pretty warbling more like the sound effects of a seaside amusement arcade. He sings along to all Redmans favourite songs.... Red factor... Redman... My friends say most people get a feather from the departed.... Dave sent the whole bloody bird
