Do you think the Three Lions can really do it?

I wouldn't underestimate their new-found determination.

I would love them to succeed, they've never won a major international tournament in my lifetime.

They, like most English sporting sides, seem to have the ability to seize defeat from the jaws of victory!

I think there's a very good chance that England will be seizing victory this time and I am sure everyone will be absolutely delighted for them. 😙 There have been a lot of unexpected outcomes in this tournament so far.

They'll be delighted in Scotland! They love it when England do well.

We do indeed, Tora. The recycling of 1966 is legendary of course but the chat could do with an update. 🙄

Remember the hand of god? That elevated Maradonut to almost godlike in Scotland!

There was something quite creepy about old Diego, God rest his cheating soul.

England's progression to the final throws up memories of 2016 when Portugal won the trophy. They drew all 3 of their group games and qualified for the k.o. stages courtesy of being one of the 4 best 3rd placed teams. They then beat Croatia after extra time, 1-0, in a game very few remember - i think many of those watching had trouble keeping their eyes open.

They then drew 1-1 with Poland, thanks to a wicked deflection, then won the tie on penalties. Their next opponents were Wales, playing in their first major tournament since 1958. Goals from Ronaldo and Nsni gave Portugal a 2-0 win and a place in the final.

There they met host nation France, the red-hot favs, who had scored no fewer than 13 goals (conceded just 4) on their way to the final. Unfortunately for Les Bleus, they couldn't score in the final and the match went to extra time. Portugal scored the winner in the 109th minute.

Now, ff to 2024, substitute France for Spain and Portugal for England, and..................................................

Here's hoping that will be the case, Ken.
