I am on my third slow cooker, i swear by mine and use it at least 4 times a week but they seem to just wear out after few years. They have all been different makes but all work, within reason, exactly the same. The only comment i would make is make sure you get bigger rather than smaller as i cook ALL meat in mine now, never have meat cooked from oven, so mine will hold whole chicken, large joints of meat etc.
I am on my second one in over thirty years of using one .It's a Morphy Richards with the largest pot with three heat settings.
Brilliant things ..I cook the Sunday joint in it and we use it all the time..more so in the winter especially.. for lovely casseroles ,stews soups etc.
Slow cookers --- Great! I had mine bought when my daughter was born 21 years ago ;-) It is a Tefal with a removable white "pyrex" casserole which I can use on the hob, to start the cooking process off, and I can put the casserole & lid in the dishwasher. If I had to buy another (eventually) I wouldn't consider one with a fixed casserole, I like to remove it and give it a proper wash!
i've got a really old one & would love a new one , peapod & shaneystar where did you get your morphy richards one from ? please let me know, thanks. :-)
Hi allotment...I bought mine in Argos ..a few years ago now
Mine has got a brown earthenware pot .Have just looked on the Argos website and I don't think they do that model anymore. But this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumb er/4207490.htm
is the same size etc just that it's got a white ceramic pot.
I've used a Tefal slow cooker for the past 20 years until the glaze began to go. Three months ago, I bought a Rival slow cooker from John Lewis. There are 2 sizes, and the inside pot is removable and can go in the dishwasher. I use it all the time, and am very pleased with the results, but have just a small grumble. The recipe book supplied is very poor. I bought a slow cooker book from Lakeland and that is excellent.. Hope this helps.
