Creepy Films

I don't usually watch creepy films - they give me the jitters - but I watched 'The Woman in Black' last night - a Gothic ghost story with Daniel Radcliffe as a lawyer sent to a remote house following the death of its owner.  Despite a couple of jumpy moments my skin is still intact, but it wasn't at all bad.

 

Do you have a favourite creepy film - or do you avoid them like I usually do?

I find life bad enough as it is, so I don't go out of my way to watch dismembering and all the other stuff I imagine goes on. Youngsters probably benefit from an introduction to real life, starting with cartoon mayhem and then moving on. Happily, only a few become addicted to violence.

Watched the film a few months back, Naomi, and while i found some of it to be quite pedictable, i certainly didn't predicvt the ending.

I think Poltergeist is one of the 'creepiest' films i've seen - not scary, just plain creepy. The hairs on the back of my neck stand on end even of i just think of young Carol-Anne's plaintive cry of "Mommy" coming through the 'white noise' of the tv.

I'm not keen on creepy films but I do love to watch The Woman In Black on stage. If you get a chance to see it, do.

I know I enjoyed The Woman in Black when I first saw it a good few years ago. It's based on the book by Susan Hill...which was definitely better. Very much like classic victorian ghost stories.

For creepy/horror "Audition" is a bit of a shocker.

I usually avoid them, especially the gory ones. I saw The Woman In Black at the cinema when it first came out and loved it even with the (hint) jump out of your seat moments. The ending was a shock having never read the book back then (now rectified, the book is brilliant). The sequel, Angel of Death, just wasn't anywhere near as good. What Lies Beneath (Michelle Pfeiffer Harrison Ford) is another favourite. I also loved The Company Of Wolves (based on a short story by Angela Carter), well worth a look. The effects are amazing for their time.
