Calvados

I have just been given a lovely bottle of Calvados but, I have never heard of it. It looks expensive but is it a wine or brandy type drink? I'm going to give it a go but it would be nice to know whether I should add it to coffee or have it with my fish and chips! Thanks for any help(with the question not to drink it!!)

Add it to apple crepes, apple cake, baked apples or apples with pork.

Try this! One measure Calvados, one measure orange juice, a half measure of Cointreau, a half measure of orange triple-sec. Shake with ice. Mmmm!
