Only going to get worse.  Politicians are not listening, but then again I doubt it is in their back yard so they dont care.  Easy to have ideologys so long as you dont have to be bothered with the downsides of them.

Not sure that violence is the answer, but it is inevitable.

Probably because they knew it wasn't for asylum seekers at all, but merely for those claiming to be; and they weren't putting up with it.

 

One notes it was to be "accommodation" (ahead of accommodating Irish citizens) and not a secure holding camp to deal with the issue.

I don't agree with violence but I feel the councillor is out of touch or deliberately ignoring the concerns of locals or deflecting blame when he said "This is an effort to spread fear and hate in our communities and the vast majority of decent people want nothing to do with it"

Many of us have short memories.  In the 19th Century following the famine those from Ireland who could afford to left for every corner of the English speaking world.

And for years after, our biggest export was the best of our young people.

The motto now seems to be: Do as we say, not as we did.

sandyRoe, that's a wonky analogy.  They did go to every corner of the English-speaking world but nowhere did they find, or expect to find, a social system that would provide for them.  They had to make their own way in the world - and they did.

Why think these people are scroungers but the Irish in the same position were keen to get to work?

As I understand it  the Irish sent much needed (at the time) labourers over to Britain. (Possibly a few tinkers too.) They didn't just turn up expecting things to be provided.

do governments not get it, it's impossible to house all the illegals, let alone the indigenous, not just housing but public services, do they not get it, these treaties need to be torn up or re-written, to make it worse we have no backgrounds on these people, how many are from jihadi groups, murderers rapist etc.
