Does Anyone Know What I Can Do About Neighbours Shisha Pipe Smoke

I live in a small terraced two up two down property and about 3 years ago new tenants moved in next door. Every night, in the warmer weather, they smoke shisha and the smoke gets into my home. I can no longer open windows in the summer and I am also asthmatic. They have a visitor staying there now and she starts at 8am smoking this stuff right up until 11pm most evenings. I'm scared to start anything with them as I have no support. Any ideas please what I do?

Write them a letter and put this in it.

Naomi, I was thinking about secondary smoke that Treacle may be inhaling and if that was me, I'd try anything to stop them from doing it.
Asking them to another part of the garden seems doable.

You could consider contacting your local council and ask that a Community Protection Notice may be considered. A warning by them is given, at first ,if deemed appropriate. If the offenders refuse to comply then a CPN will follow resulting in a fine.

I hev to say having worked in Egypt - that they were never that smelly. Sort of Persian tobacco laced with sugar/treacle/syrup, putting it on a few cubes of charcoal

Reading previous posts it seems Treacle always manages to get upset by someone else's actions - maybe try being a little more accepting of others and minding one's own business.

We have same problem. Awful people below us.  Shisha coming into our flat and making me physically sick.  Breaking out in hives. The kid is only 12 or 13 years old but its mother lets it smoke it.  I've reported them to ASB but they did nothing. I've reported the brat because it doesn't go to school either. Telling you to just shut your windows is BS. How can you live with the windows shut?  I hate these people with a passion. I was a good neighbour to them.  We were flooded by flat above us and had a nuisance neighbor bothering everyone. I helped solve both problems for this disgusting low class family. I tried going downstairs and speaking to them. The mother opens the door and immediately started yelling abuse.

No idea what to do. I'm begging my partner to move us and request that the council move us. It is insufferable. 

I used to smoke and now vape. I don't even mind people smoking in our flat.  This shisha is something else. It is disgusting beyond belief!!!!  

To say I hate these horrible dirty low life scum bags would be an understatement.  What can be done? No idea.  

To all the people who just brush this off you have no idea the misery caused by people like this.  They are the worst scum.  Do what you like in your own home I really don't care....but when it destroys your rights you can shove it!

I'm all used up. I'm full of hate for them.  I don't condone bigotry/racism and I was anti-brexit and still am...but this is the stuff that drives people to the far right....I now get it!  

I didn't sign up to live in the *** middle east with people who don't give a *** about being good neighbors.  

I wish I could tell you what to do....I can't.  The hatred is eating me alive.....We don't have a home anymore! We have to live with everything shut.  This is no life!

Dear Treacle, I just saw your reply to me today.  What you said is exactly what we were saying too about dreading the spring/summer.  Nothing has changed here for us. Last little heat wave it got up over 100F in our flat with windows closed.

Even worse now is that he will be home all day for summer holidays.  It is so horrible.  

The shisha he smokes smells like used dirty perfumed diapers and is sickening.  

I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone.  We understand just how much you are suffering. I know it's not much consolation and I wish I could do something to help you.

We are keeping a log of it. The police said that even though it is not illegal the amount of an activity can by itself be classified as a nuisance. I'm not holding out much hope but this is all we can do.

We have had 2 fires in our block of flats. One of them was because of a shisha pipe left burning out on balcony. 

It is beyond comprehension giving the tragedy and Grenfell that Shisha is permitted. Shisha requires a burning hot coal. BBQ is obviously banned but Shisha isn't?

I believe it is only a matter of when not if before this 13 year old idiot before us causes a fire with his shisha. God help us all!

I feel so bad for you. Some of the replies you got really made me angry.  We got so ill keeping windows shut with the heat and it is dangerous. We get sick from smoke with open windows and we are sick with windows shut with no air or dying from the heat. Our clothes, bedding and furniture stink from this crap and we have coats of ash on our floor from it.
