This is going to be difficult to explain to non- subscribers to Compers News ......It's a crossword with a list of 3,4,5,7 lettered words which you have to fit in (there are no clues - you have to work out how fit the above given words) You must use all the words & black out the remaining squares so the result is a fully symmetrical crossword - ie whether you rotate grid 90, 180 or 270 the design remains the same Grid is 13 squares across and 13 squares down - to start you off letter H is 4th column 1st line, black out square 3 on 2nd line, insert W row 10, 13th column - (fill in seven corresponding black squares right away). I've taken the magazine with me on holiday and it's driving me up the wall!! If I could get the corresponding black squares I may be able to continue myself - there's insufficient room here to list all the words but the six 7 lettered words are EPICURE IMITATE LEADING OMINOUS PERFUME WHETHER - big thank you for any pointers given
No best answer has yet been selected by tollview. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.start top left corner going across: PUSH; 1 black square; letter M (its MITE going down); black square; letter C (CUBE going down); black square; PANG
Second row - letter O ; 2 black squares; EPICURE; 2 black squares; R
That should give you a good starting point. the 7 letter word at the bottom running parallel to epicure is LEADING and the 2 down the sides are OMINOUS and PERFUME
WHETHER and IMITATE cross one another in the middle (whether goes dow, imitate across)
Thank you so much for taking the time to give the information in such detail - I will now spend the time filling in the many blanks and hopefully I will have a much better idea of how to tackle a similar competition when it next appears in my Compers Magazine - I was well and truly stuck so thank you so much
