Is the calm before the storm. Eldest grandchild, aged four, is coming to stay for two weeks, on Sunday. He's a really lovely little boy and loves being with us, as much as we love having him. He's well behaved and a joy to have around.

But..... he's four and we're not! We have a few things booked to take him too, but also or ordinary things he doesn't get to do at home, like supermarket visits (they get home delivery), Wicks with grandad to buy BIG nails, Costco to see the gigantic tvs, and John Lewis to buy his little sister (due beginning of October) a blanket. I'm hoping riding his bike while taking dog for a walk will be good too, he doesn't get much opportunity to do that where they live.

And it will be two weeks on the wagon 🍸🍸🍸🍸

One of my biggest pleasures when my two were little was reading them bedtime stories.

That's great, Vagus. I'm sure you'll all enjoy your time together.
I'm looking forward to seeing my 2 year old grandson in a couple of weeks. Just for a weekend, though. Like you, I'll be on the wagon for the duration.

When my granddaughter came recently, cake making and a trip to LEGOLAND were her highlights.

Why 2 weeks on the wagon?  Unless, of course you drink each other under the table every evening?  We never knocked off our glasses of wine with dinner.   πŸ˜‰

Yes, it will be a tricky and energetic and testing 2 weeks - good luck!  We're just coming to the end of a trying period of daughter's dogs (one is a 6 mths. old pup).

I can recommend the visit to Wicks - my younger daughter was never happier than (at much the same age) running down an aisle shrieking 'Toi-lot seats' and flicking all  the covers up as she went.  She enjoyed it anyway - a highlight!

Ha ha Hopkirk, a couple of years ago he said he needed a wee when we were in B&Q and he saw the bathroom set ups. He's just at the age where he can now listen to a story without needing the pictures too, so nice to have him snuggled in bed listening 😊

We just feel it better if we don't have any alcohol while he's here, you never know.... And it'll be good for us to give our livers a rest too.

Im sure you'll enjoy having him clover, they're such a joy aren't they?

Sharon, we'll be making jam buns like I used to make with his daddy, Lego land is too far unfortunately although we do have a Lego mountain here..

Good luck and enjoy yourselves.

If you get stuck I also recommend a regular bus or train ride; especially if he is more used to cars and car seats.
