As I said in another hread, the cascase (of trade union demands) begins.

I have to say even I did not expect it to begin so quickly. I thought the unions would at least have the decency to wait until the autumn. However, this new government seems to have been astonishingly quick to demonstrate their incompetence.

It's like at school when you had a really tough teacher and they go on holiday and their temp replacement is a push over. That's what's happened with the unions.

please can you clarify just what makes england the sick kman of Europe?

would It still be the smoe if still in the EU?

would it still be the smoe if it joined the USA. as the 51st state? ?

10:45 we are not the SMOE yet johnny, that's the point but with all these union demands, inflation busting pay ises etc we are heading there. We were called the SMOE in the late 70s and that is where Labour is taking us.

Labour will cave in.

if we don't learn the lessons of the past then history will repeat itself.

I remember the 70's  just as we lived on a small holding which was off the grid so the power cuts did not effect us .

I also remeber the 80's with 3 million unemployed and the real two tier system

//Starmer's capitulation to the junior doctors history will show was a great blunder.//

Was it Bliar or Brown who gave in to GPs who had submitted crazy demands as a starting point, expecting to be talked down?

And what's wrong with looking for time to enjoy the fruits of your labour?

zebo; //Was it Bliar or Brown who gave in to GPs who had submitted crazy demands as a starting point, expecting to be talked down?//

Gordon Brown gave a huge sum of money, not to the doctors, but for the NHS, and the doctors swiped most of it for themselves in pay rises.

I was taught when you intend to use abbreviations the first time you write  the phrase or name in full and put the abbreviation in parentheses straight after it.  From that point it's ok to use the abbreviation.   And this should be for every 'document' or equivalent.  I would politely suggest each thread should be classed as a document for this purpose.

The unions don't need to run rings around this government - it's all there on a plate.  It has to end in tears.

"It has to end in tears."

But whose tears will they be?

Some are well known and official - the one you've used is made up.  I feel sorry for newcomers here reading your posts.

no no I am shocked. this is AB ! repository of all truth.
