Morning guys. Had a slight sore throat all weekend and kept saying to myself 'Ill dose myself up in a min and nip it in the bud',  which I obv didn't. Woke up and feel like I'm swallowing razor blades. Any good home remedies apart from the old 'gargle with warm salt water' which my Nan swore by??

Has rained here overnight AGAIN!  Seeing how it rained 90% of the summer do you think it's likely that it's going to do the same for all of Autumn??

Sherry is a good one, but maybe a bit early!

How's the toe?

Good mornng Smow et al.  I use (dilute) TCP gargle for sore throat which I find gives some relief.  Storms forecast here today so I'll be staying inside.

Morning Smow and all who follow. It chucked it down overnight here too and the forecast doesn't look too promising. The only remedy I have for a sore throat is lemon and honey in hot water. It doesn't cure but it does soothe. Hows the toe, is it any less ouchy?

A delivery from tesco is due this morning and thats about it for us

Have a happy day everyone

Morning girls & boys! Toe is more definitely more painful and blacker than yesterday but I seem to be able to walk slightly better on it - whether I've perfected. Ot putting weight on that exact toe or whether the swellings gone down a tad I'm not sure!

I read the other day somewhere a slow cooker recipe for a home version of Lemsip. Can't remember where I saw it but apparently it was v good and you could bottle it up and keep it for months.

Morning, what a gloomy, miserable day.  Gargle with soluable Aspirin, smow.  A friend recommended soluble Aspirin to me for colds and suchlike -and it is very effective.  It has to be the soluble type though.

Morning Smow. Last time my throat felt like swallowing razorblades, it turned out to be covid. I also gargle with warm diluted tcp. Hope it doesn't come to much and your toe will feel better soon.

I was also going to question whether it could be Covid. Despite 2 jabs and six boosters, four weeks ago my husband came down with Covid.  Started as just a cold and then his throat felt like he had broken glass in it.  Even swallowing sips of water was extremely painful and he literally had nothing to eat for 3 days.

Good morning Smow, I have found Chloraseptic VERY helpful, though you have to be careful angling it. (Though not a home remedy)
Tipping it down here this morning, but slightly warmer at 13º.
Today is the anniversary of MrF's passing. 7 years now I've been on my own. It doesn't seem to get any easier.
Have a good day everyone and stay dry if you can :)

Yep I've got soluble aspirin here, just having some.  Hope it's not COVID - have got away with catching it so far for the last few years lol.
Not going to temps fate but the sky looks like it's trying to brighten..... you don't realise how much you love being outside, and sunshine etc when it's not there do you : (

I had a great aunt who reeked of TCP, we swore she doused it on absolutely everything lol. It put me off the smell for life😉

lol, yep my mum always always had a bottle of TCP in the cupboard lol. And Vaseline lol.

2 small lemon sips but rather than putting loads of hot water - just keep it very much like a syrup.  And also take it bed time.

I know I smelt of TCP - but when I was a teenager I just poured it on each pimple and I did have lovely skin.  Still do.   LOL

Whisky(not your best) with lemon, honey and hot water. If it doesn't cure you it ensures you don't care anyway.
