What do we think? At any sort of "all you can eat" arrangement I never take anything unless I'm going to eat it. I think they are bang on to charge these idiots.

I can't bear seeing food go to waste.

About 10 years ago me and mine went on the worst holiday ever - to Egypt. It was spoiled because it was full of Russians who are without doubt the worst people you could ever meet.

They were loading their tables (not just their plates) with mountains of food, often leaving people without, and then leaving I reckon at least 60% of it; the staff were clearing up after them big plastic bins.

So, I think this is a great idea and all power to the landlord's elbow.

Deskdiary, this is similar to us when we went to Cyprus a few years ago. Russians taking so much and not eating a lot of it.  They also kept pushing in and forgetting there was a queue although we did put them right on a number of occasions.  They seem to think it is only them on their holidays.

I abhor food waste.

Agree totally with what this person is doing.  It appears people are allowed to go back up if hungry so why pile a mountain, even if you are going to eat it.

I'm suprised no one has said they wouldn't visit this type of eatery

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the mark-up on restaurant food.

And don't get me started on alcohol or tea and coffee, the last two apparently worth a kings ransom.

Surely the same argument could be used for a fixed amount of good at a fixed price?

If too much food (whatever that might be) were left, a surcharge could be imposed?

In both examples, margins are involved with some food not being consumed.

If he's unhappy with folk taking advantage of the offer or leaving too much on their plate, why not just use fixed prices for fixed amounts?

Or get smaller plates.

Virtue signalling is back, box up the leavings and ship them off to Oxfam, if nothing else it'll feed the village goat.

Greed and selfish gluttony deserve to pay for wasting food.

common courtesy.

Pubs I use seem to have upped their portion sizes to justify having upped their prices considerably. I often can't eat all they serve so some goes to waste. Light(er) bites seem unavailable & I shrink from ordering a childrens meal.

Many places won't sell children's meals to adults, sadly.

There used to be a chain of pubs that offered the same main meals in three different plate sizes, which I thought was a great idea.

barry1010, Farmhouse Inns is one chain that does this with different plate sizes.  Been to Redwood Farm near Cribbs in Bristol a few times and noticed that they do this with the carvery.  Other meals were good there as well.

All you can eat doesn't mean "all you can pile on a plate", the greedy *** that waste food should be charged accordingly.

Awe crap, I may have just agreed with TTT, how embarrassing,,,

That's good to know, Shedman
