I know we've done this before, buy hey-ho, a refresher might entertain. My contribution come from one I've just posted on the how far it goes thread.

At the time it came out, one of my more ditzy friends thought the Beatles' song went :-

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm six feet four

// I got my son a muffin top

It's burning like a silver flame//

Paul Young, "Every time you go away you take a piece of meat with you"

I once saw Peter Kay on tv and he did a whole routine on misheard lyrics.  He had a small, hand-held tape recorder, told you what he heard and then played the song and of course, you heard it the way he did.  The only one i can remember is Take That's Want you Back which became Wash Your Back and that's what you heard.

Something in the air - Thunderclap Newman - 'because the revolution's here' becomes 'because the red balloons are here'.

Not misheard but misunderstood, in the hymn There Is A Greenhill Far Away "without a city wall'  I couldn't fathom why a green hill would ever have a city wall.
