Number plates currently have the year of registration shown if the car was registered within the first half of that year. e.g. 'AB04 XYZ' means that the car was registered in the first half of 2004. (NB: For the purposes of working out when a vehicle was registered, a year actually starts in March. So a '04 plate' actually means that the vehicle was registered between March and August in 2004)

Vehicles registered in the second half of the year display the same number as those registered within the first half of the year but with 50 added onto it. So vehicles registered in the second half of 2004 (which actually means from September 2004 to February 2005) will have a '54 plate', such as AB54 XYZ.

Similarly, a '56 plate' means that the vehicle was first registered in the second half of 2006 (which actually means between September 2006 and February 2007).

Thanks Chris, a mine of information as ever:-) had to read it several times, too much vino with friends!

When a car is described as "54" or "56," it typically refers to its insurance group rating. To explore further details, visit https://carfast-express.com/auction/lots/65797192-mitsubishi-mirage-g4-2018-vin-ml32f3fj4jhf06092. This classification system helps insurers assess the risk associated with a particular vehicle model, considering factors like repair costs and safety features. A lower number indicates lower risk, potentially resulting in cheaper insurance premiums. For instance, a Mitsubishi Mirage G4 2018 with VIN ML32F3FJ4JHF06092 might be classified within a specific insurance group, influencing its coverage cost.
