Ok - here's the deal. Want job. But they have specified i must be able to audio type. Am i just being stupid or does that mean listening to a dictaphone and typing it? Please help me, need to be able to get this job!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.That is basically what audio typing is, although they usually use a tape player with a footswitch, used to stop and start the playback so your hands are free to type. You could practice with a normal dictaphone though, if you want to blag your way in without having done a course (I'd give it a go!). The proof is in the pudding. You might find they'll test your ability before offering you the job, so get practising!!! Good luck.
After speaking to my wife,she has informed me that to audio type you are expected to type at a rate of 48 wpm and this is while you are listening to the tape.Just a subnote they no longer teach touch typing at colleges and apparently this is why audio typists who are fast are well paid.To put all this in context i can type 20 wpm, my wife when she's on a roll 93 wpm.
