How to stop partner buying something?

I had this years xmas prezzie all sussed for Mr Fizz.Tickets for Man Utd,hotel blah blah blah.Haven't bought them yet as they dont go on sale till a certain date, Anyway,he gets in from work last night and told me that there is a notice up from a guy selling Man U tickets and he is very tempted to buy them - nooooooo!! So how do I put him off without making it blatantly obvious that I am intending to get them myself?

Tell him that there's an important wedding on that day that you both have to attend. Some family member that he won't question. That way he won't be able to buy the tickets for said date.

Is he prone to forgetting dates? Hopefully he will be, so when the 'wedding day' arrives it will pass without incident. Or nearer the time you could just say that somebody else misinformed you and it wasn't actually a wedding, but a birthday party.

Does that make sense?

Do you know this guy who is selling the tickets. Could it be worth having a quiet word with him? He could tell Mr Fizz that he sold them to someone else maybe? Im sure he will get a buyer apart from your man.

No,I dont know this guy with the tickets,and they are for a date thats no good to me anyway.Am thinking I may have to steal his wallet so he cant pay for them! lol

If they're for a date that's no good to you, then surely it doesn't matter. Failing that, get in there first and buy the tickets off the guy yourself (there must be someone oyu know who works with your fella that you could ask to purchase them on your behalf if you don't know the fella who's selling them).

Failing that, I'd go with the "make some family do up on the date(s) in question" idea

Forgot to say (and it's a bit late for you two now as it would give the game away) but my gf and I agree to not buy ourselves anything in the run up to xmas, so if there's something I want now - I have to buy it after xmas (in case she's already bought me it) - I know it means waiting but it saves any surprises being spoilt

You can buy tickets for any match,but they generally dont go on sale till the month before.The ones he has seen at work are for a match next week I think.The match I want to take him to is next month.
