Hi all

i won't go into specifics but I've received an anonymous letter. It was sent with a first class stamp.

i was wondering can the new barcoded stamps be traced to at least an area where it was purchased?

not necessarily the sender but the shop/post office it was bought from?

thanks

This is the best that I could find, but I think that you might be disappointed, Mizunderstood.

Even if they could be, you wouldn't be able to get the information you wanted due to data protection - you are not the customer, the person who bought the stamp is.

If it's a criminal matter the police might be able to get that information - if it's possible

Is the postmark no help? The stamps could have been bought anywhere, even on line.

Thanks for the replies. Would the police be able to tell where it was bought?

its not bad, just telling me of my partner's infidelity, and screen shots of their 'chats' this is not the first letter I've received.

I don't know if the police could find out.  Have you asked your husband if he has any idea who is sending them?  That's the first thing the police would do if they decided an offence is being commited.

It's probably best to discuss the situation with your partner and try to find a resolution rather than spend time and energy trying to trace the stamp. What would that solve?

I hope things work out for the best whatever that might be.

Anybody can send you a poison-pen letter and stick into an envelope with a first class stamp. Either ignore it or talk to your husband.

as the others have said, it's pointless.  i bought my last book of stamps when i was in wales on holiday.  i live on the south coast.  if your husband has been having chats with someone, unless there's many he'll know who it is!

Is it definitely your husband in the screenshot conversation? Have you asked him about it. Surely if it was him he would remember the conversation and be able to identify the sender?

I doubt they'd be interested at all unless there was blackmail or threats to kill involved.

Have you posted about his before under a different name? It sounds familiar.

Found this from August this year- this is the thread I was half-remembering. Maybe it was you or husband then, or maybe it's just a coincidence.

NMA - is it advisable to post this given what the poster seems to acknowledge in the thread? Perhaps a mod should remove before the OP sees it?

I don't see why- it's on Answerbank, a public forum, and the other thread broke no rules, so should remain. I doubt it's the same case anyway
