Why does it take so long before I can have an avatar on here?

I joined on Sun 17th Dec 2023, just under a year now.

It seems a bit strange to me why we have to wait so long.

New users do not have immediate access to an Avatar, but after a short introductory period you will be able to set your own Avatar.

You may connect with Gravatar in -322 days and after 10 more legitimate posts.

 

Thats nearly another year before I can have my own avatar, isn't this a bit extreme?

Actually minus days suggest you are already over the period. Have you ticked the box to say your icon isn't X-rated ?

There doesn't appear to be the option for me to upload any pictures or an option of any avatars.

The problem of members requiring a negative number of posts before being able to have an avatar has come up many, many times here.  It usually seems to get fixed after the member emails the Ed to explain his/her problem:

I've been a member of this site for nearly 20 years and never had an avatar. Why would anyone want one?

I like avatars, clarion.  They make posts individual at a glance.

I can't seem to get one because I can't remember my original password!  (Given late at night in a panic because I was alone and nursing someone post op. and needed help - dear sqad came to the rescue.) I'd love one.

jourdain: You just need a gravatar account with the same email id.

At 02.13 I posted the link to my avatar. 

But when I try to edit profile, I can't see any options to change it.
