I am trying to solve a problem on my computer to do with 'kodakimg' which I believe to be an application.. please would someone tell me the difference between an application and a programme. Oh, and bear in mind when you type the answer that you are dealing with someone who has all the computer knowledge of a rice crispie.. so please keep it simple! Thanks Trudi :o)

KodakImg is my picture viewing application, and for some reason there is an error on it. I appreciate if I remove it and reinstall it the error might resolve itself, but my problem is how to I find out which programme this application is part of as I cant find it on any of my original discs.. I bet this makes no sense at all to anyone who knows about computers, and I can imagine you all scratching your heads and wondering what the hell I am on about.. just humour me please and try to help!! :o) Trudi
Trudi - assuming you're running on Windows, hit your Windows key and click on Search, then type in kodakimg. This should hopefully show you where it's stored.
Alternatively click on Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs which will bring up a list of what you've installed.
If you're looking for another picture viewer, try www.irfanview.com which is free and easy to use. :-)
Thanks Lodekka.. by twiddling the knobs and pressing the keys I have realised (two hours later) that the application is part of the original ME setup and not on another programme which comes as part of the package.. I have found out how to reinstall the application from the start up disc but am not feeling that brave.. so I will have a look at the free viewer you have suggested or simply forget about the whole thing and wait till I can entice someone to my house who knows what's what... no doubt I will have a few takers for that if people know I live in Spain... Easyjet anyone? :o) Trudi
Reinstall kodak imaging by following the resolution in these instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=188392
As for your 2nd question, an application IS a programme, but a special type.
Applications carry out tasks for you whereby you can PRODUCE something, like a word processor or a spreadsheet. Other types of programmes include UTILITIES (that make your PC work better) & OPERATING SYSTEMS (that actually run your PC, e.g. Windows)
Applications are programs. Kodakimg is kodaks imaging program that allows you to view graphics. Dont bother with it. Associate all graphics to another application/program and you'll be a happy computer user.
how? simple...right click on any image, click properties -> then click change -> and associate it with Internet Explorer or Paint or whatever you prefer.
thats it
