Fab jamming session with good friends and great music. I played like a pro with my new banjo, it sounded great.

15.14 Nice one Sparklykid. You got slated on here, well why doesn't that suprise me. They wouldn't have a clue on how much time is spent getting to a certain level.

I wouldn't waste my time on trying to lift the doom and gloom on here, I'd stand more chance of lifting Titanic.

If you had 20 Mandolins, 20 fiddles and 20 Banjos playing all together on here it wouldn't lift the doom and gloom. <:•))

Sparklykid. If you want to see a great banjo player, youtube Dave Hum. The man who inspired me, sadly he passed away at the young age of 46 with Myloma cancer. A nice one to see is ( Masons Apron and 2 little dancers) the dancers are is 2 young daugters. He spent many hours street busking in different towns and cities around the UK.

Great way to spend your afternoon!

How lovely. Glad you enjoyed it.

Stops you turning into an old cranky person tilly & patsy. Not that I'm saying.......  <:•))))

thanks nb

Question Author

No problem SK theres many of Dave Hum on youtube.

Yougmafbog @15.28. Would bd really interested in what it explains? Many thanks for your time and input.

tried a banjo once, with the short first string. could,nt get the hang of it. congrats to you  for persevering. as you say a lot of practice time. i spent years taping stuff over and over  to determine what they  were doing. song books did not help, they may have had the correct music notation, but  the chord illustrations were all wrong. it was not taken into account the guitarists were not considered. paul simon;s songbook eg. interesting in deliverence the boy on the bridge was not playing. behind him was a banjo player with his arms around the boy

guitarists using a capo

I started off with basic tablature books and Cds by Jack Hatfield, but you get to rely on the tab to much. Then went on to Back - up Banjo, by Janet Davis. Its still a struggle to get hammer on's and slides right sometimes but got good at covering mistakes :0) I met Dave Hum in Oxford years ago busking, he chatted to me for ages. On leaving him he said there will be times when you feel its beat you and you'll want to throw that banjo out the window, don't, have a rest from it but never ever give up because it will come to you.
