Keta was suggested here (but don't look if you don't want to see other answers)

I think toorak's link is the wrong one but it's still best answer.

It can't be Keta, there was a mistake (my fault) when I posted the first query - the 'T' is definately wrong. Correct letters are as posted

C?A?

Sorry, I'm getting confused; didn't twig Daij was asking as a follow up to his previous thread.

Oh ... just googled and can only find the fruit. So where does fish fit in?

OK char looks okay as it lives in lochs and rivers which have bores

Would this definition cover bore = har?

nterjection

[edit]

har

A sound of laughter, with a sarcastic connotation

If you look at my link the reference to Amla is in the first paragraph

Many thanks for your help

Sorry toorak... just realised available was for the other clue. I still had fish on my mind after looking at the first clue.

Autocorrect turned amla to available , but I've only just seen your other post. I am trying to sort out travel arrangements via online and looking in on AB at the same time.

Chad ("shad"; Chambers) - 'c(aught)' + 'had' (past tense 'have'; 'bear' - 'bore')

I normally defer to Lie - in - King but there doesn't seem to be a fish called a chad (shad yes). However I am not keen on char either as surely har is not bore. Any further thoughts anybody?

Maxymax - as I said, Chambers has -

chad a kind of fish (see shad)

Fair enough Lie-in-King I will bow to your expertise!
