Some will say this topic should be in Religion & Spirituality - maybe?  But this is something quite unprecedented & really newsworthy. GB News is giving a daily advent, short talk/sermon throughout Advent.

Is apathy to Religion, secularism & outright atheism allowing the continuing rise of Islam within the UK & the rest of Europe ?  With Jordan Peterson and others  pushing for a return to our core Christianity, is something afoot?

On another thread ABers are rightly in awe at the newly restored Notre Dame de Paris. The experience & wonder proclaimed generally seems to be something more than just the praising of craftmanship. Is the sum total of that magnificent building more than that of its component parts?

Could some form of Christian revival be a welcome bulwark against the Islamification of the West?

n. I'll return to the underlying point:

davebro . //It would be a pity if opposition to one set of fairy story believers relied solely on an opposing set of fairy story believers.//

The UK has incrementally reached a point now where you can go to Speaker's Corner & say that about Christianity, but go and try saying it about Islam & see what happens.

If there is to be a Christian Revival it has to a true Christian eg must follow the gospel of Jesus and be led by the Holy Spirit.

We do not want the false doctrine of Christian Nationalism in this country

Which is the true Christian version, fiveleaves?

"We"?

I might be wrong but I've a feeling that fiveleaves isn't going to answer my question so I'll say this.  Khandro is talking about Christianity rising up and repelling all boarders who might want to crush it - and Europe with it - but if Christianity continues to disagree with itself the likelihood of joined-up thinking seems more remote.

Maybe a crusade is what's needed, settle things down for a few hundred years.

i think Rondy sums it up quite well on the jokes thread :-

My father was a Methodist....
My mother was a Spiritualist.....
So I was brought up as a Methylated Spirit.

douglas //"We"?//                                                                        You are excused.  I'm tempted to say, stick to the tiresome & relentless attempts at humour.

No.

Ellipsis:  // No//

What do you mean by that ? To reiterate my post at 11:56

The UK has incrementally reached a point now where you can go to Speaker's Corner & say that [ it's a fairy story] about Christianity, but go and try saying it about Islam & see what happens.

There will not be a revival of Christianity.

The thing we have to hope for is a similar decline in Islam, but as they're about 500 years behind it may be a while before we see it.

> What do you mean by that ?

No, apathy to Religion, secularism & outright atheism is not allowing the continuing rise of Islam within the UK & the rest of Europe.  Even if there is a correlation (debatable), that would not show causation.
