Do Marriage Bureaux Still Exist?

It seems everyone looking to meet up with someone now uses dating apps - often with different intentions and expectations which results in little success.  At least with marriage bureaux each know the other's purpose for joining.

I've had a quick look on the internet and marriage bureaux for the Asian community are plentiful, but what about the non-Asian community?

Im 58 now.

Never wanted to get married. Never will.

Relationships, Yes.

Children, Yes.

Love, hate and everything that goes with it???

Cant be doing with it anymore.....

 

I didn't know Marriage Bureaux ever existed.

It used to be only adverts in newspapers.

When I split up with my son's dad I put an ad in the local paper to find a potential partner. The replies I got were extremely depressing. The men were all grim as heck. I guess it's similar now with online dating apps. I haven't tried them. And won't. 

There are Christian marriage bureaux too

Who is Sylvia is a 1960s sitcom about a marriage bureau; Hancock's Half Hour had an episode about one. One was featured on Corrie, Vince St Clare met a wealthy widow, Carol Munroe, through a bureau. Turned out to be Jack and Vera.
